Benjamin’s Home Baptism

Ben at the Bowl

Before posting this article I probably should supply some context. Our family has hosted private Christian fellowships four about seven years (since 2014). Our peak years of activity were between 2014 to 2017 when we were hosting dinners every other week, jumping between friends who share the Prayer Book with us and those interested in class meetings. Consequently, since 2014 we’ve done more and more at home (partly because we were a work of the United Episcopal Church), and with COVID lockdowns in California, home devotions became exclusively so. The highlights of the life of the fellowship we enjoyed can be read at our FB page for the ‘chapel-in-formation‘. Let me conclude by saying this was our fourth home baptism (prior christenings being Nathaniel, Harold, & Judith), done in very much the same manner when home baptisms were rather common among American Protestants. The charity of Mr Fargo really sealed many years of fellowship with his dear family, and it was a very happy occasion. for all. Below is an article sent to the UE newsletter, Glad Tidings, but afraid it did not make the cut. Embedded are links to other blogs I keep.

On the Moke

Camping at Jackson’s CA Elks’ Lodge, and spending a couple hot days along the Mokelumne River (north fork) is likely my last post regarding this year’s summer expeditions. We visited a couple other northern Californian localities (e.g., Knights Ferry on the Stanislaus R. and the Benicia Reserve on the Carquinez Strait) as well as much swimming in the Alameda Creek near our home. But the Moke River (shorthand) remains one of our favorite larger watercourses for it’s salubrious plentitude (even midst drought we found generous flows) as well as a little something owing to its political history.

Ranch Lake Trail

Waiting for ride at foot of trail

As we enter mid-Fall, want to get up some last pictures of trips made during the Summer 2021. This set of photos were late-June when extended family camped at Sanburn Co. Park near Saratoga. Not far from Mt. Madonna and nestled in the beginnings of the Santa Cruz Mts., Sanburn is an old farmstead with a ton of Redwood (Pacific cyprus) trees and over 30 campsites along Aubry Creek. Local streams are seasonal, but along the ridgeline there were a couple ponds we tried to visit with the children.
